Methi Chicken Recipe Village Grandma Cooking Secret

Methi chicken is a wonderful chicken recipe, made of chicken and fenugreek leaves, i.e. methi. You can enjoy a different flavor of taste by adding methi to chicken. It goes very well with roti or you can even enjoy the taste with rice. Let’s learn how to prepare this methi chicken recipe at home.

Ingredients Required for Preparing Methi Chicken Recipe

  • Chicken – 1/4 Kilo
  • Methi leaves – 4 Bunches
  • Onion – 1
  • Groundnuts – 1/2 cup (Fried)
  • Green Chillies – 50gms
  • Garlic – Ginger Paste – 2 Tbsp
  • Coriander (Dhaniya) Powder – 1 Tsp
  • Cloves – 4
  • Cinnamon – 2 Medium Pieces
  • Turmeric powder – As required
  • Salt – As per taste
  • Cooking Oil – 5 Tbsp

Method for Preparing Methi Chicken Recipe

  1. Wash the chicken thoroughly and cut it into small pieces.
  2. Remove the methi leaves from the stems and keep aside
  3. Grind onion pieces, and green chillies separately and keep these pastes aside.
  4. Take a pan and heat cooking oil in it.
  5. Add cinnamon and cloves and heat them.
  6. As soon as they start popping, add onion paste, and green chilli paste, to it and fry.
  7. Now add ginger – garlic paste and fry it for 2 minutes.
  8. As soon as the mixture turns into brown color, add chicken pieces, turmeric powder, and salt to it.
  9. Mix well and leave it for cooking.
  10. When the water in the chicken pieces gets dried up, and starts popping, add methi leaves to it and close the pan with a lid.
  11. Allow the mixture to cook for couple of minutes and add groundnut powder to it.
  12. After cooking for 5 minutes, add half glass water to it.
  13. Mix the mixture well and cook it under sim flame for another 5 minutes.
  14. Now switch off the stove and take it into bowl.
  15. Methi chicken is ready to get served.
